From Yahoo! News:

By STEPHANIE REITZ, Associated Press Writer Stephanie Reitz, Associated Press Writer

LITCHFIELD, Conn. – Rip Torn was so intoxicated when he broke into a Connecticut bank carrying a loaded gun that he thought he was home, taking off his hat and boots and leaving them by the door, according to court records.

The 78-year-old actor was wearing the same battered boots Monday when he was arraigned on several charges after spending the weekend in a police holding cell near his hometown of Salisbury, in northwestern Connecticut.

Torn, who did not enter a plea, was released on $100,000 bond a few hours later and waded through a phalanx of media to a friend’s waiting vehicle. He smiled and wished onlookers a nice day but did not answer questions about the arrest.

He is expected to enter an alcohol rehabilitation center in New York as early as Tuesday, according to his attorney.

I can pass for a 15 year-old, right?

When I was a kid, my dream was to be on Nickelodeon’s Guts. It looked like so much fun. The weird thing was that I wasn’t athletic at all, but I was pretty sure I could take on the Aggro Crag.

As I got older I started to dream about being on the Real World (live in a house with a jacuzzi for free! Hell yes) and now I think it would be kind of cool to be on the Apprentice (I always mean business).

Then I saw that this show is coming out:

Destroy Build Destroy is a reality competition show airing on Cartoon Network where two teams of teens destroy each other’s materials, re-build them and then destroy them again and its hosted by Andrew W.K.!

I want to be on this show! Remind me how to act 15 again so I can audition. I like blowing things up… from afar under high professional supervision. I bet AWK has really positive things to say about blowing stuff up too. In an interview about the show, he said that making it was “epic” and “pretty emotional”! Aw man, get me on this show!

There is one thing about this show that makes me angry. Why is anything live action airing on Cartoon Network? This is a disgrace! Please Cartoon Network, don’t follow in the shoes of MTV who doesn’t play any music any longer. Thumbs down.

There are no more original ideas, Part 2: Deja Vu

Here’s a little something extra for those of you who enjoyed my first post on a similar topic, specifically the “redemption hero.” I mentioned briefly that a lot of ideas borrow from classic literature and mythology; for this post I’m going to expand on that idea with the “journey” story.

In my previous post, I briefly mentioned “The Odyssey,” which is an epic poem about a journey (even the word “odyssey” means journey) and is the most basic of all stories - someone or a group of people have to go somewhere. That’s it. You can’t get simpler than that.

Before we get started, I’d like to zip over to the East. Don’t worry now, I’ll take you back.
