Ok, was anyone aware of this? I stumbled upon this while looking for a picture of Michale Graves (former Misfits front man) for a comparison.
I can’t decide if I find the Bass player attractive or not, her hair cut is awful.

I don’t quite believe it myself.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox Searchlight is in talks to produce a biopic about the seminal punk rock band The Ramones. The film, which would be based on the forthcoming memoir “I Slept With Joey Ramone” by Ramone’s brother Mickey Leigh and punk journalist Legs McNeil, would focus on the origins of the band, each member’s myriad problems with drugs (and with each other), and the group’s considerable impact on modern popular music.
Here are two of the more unusual Ramones covers not to appear on the “We’re a Happy Family” compilation.
This first one Tommy brought to my attention:
This is more for Khalid; this is Marky Ramone talking about the Ramone’s music style.
…eating Chicken Vindaloo (unfortunately, not “fingerloo”). I’m reading a book about the Ramones and the lyrics from “I Just Want To Have Something To Do” came up, citing the line “Hanging out on second avenue eating chicken vindaloo”. Tommy and I always thought it was the made up word “fingerloo”, but as it turns out it’s a sort of curry dish.

Osaka Popstar is a punk super-group of sorts formed in 2006 by New Yorker John Cafiero. Cafiero wanted an outlet to express his music but also incorporate his love for Japanese anime. In 2006, Cafiero teamed up with several well known punk rock artists to create the anime based punk group, Osaka Popstar. They released their debut album/DVD on May 23, 2006. Their lyrics consist of topics such as characters in Japanese anime like Astroboy and Sailor Moon. The first single off the album was a cover of singer/song writer Daniel Johnston, entitled “Wicked World.”
Main lineup
* John Cafiero - Lead Vocals
* Jerry Only (The Misfits) - Bass Guitar
* Dez Cadena (Black Flag, The Misfits) - Lead Guitar
* Ivan Julian (The Voidoids) - Rhythm Guitar
* Marky Ramone (Ramones, The Voidoids, The Misfits) - Drums
I’m a big fan of these guys, and I found out about them because they’re on Misfits Records (Jerry Only’s record label) and looking up stuff on YouTube I came across their music videos. They are very pop-punk, which has caused a lot of die-hard fans of the bands these men were part of to decide that this band is garbage, but I really like what they’ve done because you can tell it’s 5 friends getting together and having a good time playing music that they all enjoy.
Here’s the link to their official site, and their last.fm page.
I had some problems a while ago trying to upload some clips from the Drawback Halloween show. I thought I’d give it a try again, and SUCCESS we have a good clip on YouTube now:
Click on the link above for more clips from that show. This clip is only from the beginning of the set.

I think there’s no secret of our love of the Ramones here at Ninecents. But a whopping two listeners topped our last.fm charts this week, so here’s a post about them.
In an era of overuse and overabundance, they pushed the idea of “less is more”. And with that, here’s some links and videos:

While bumbling around YouTube for “Blitzkrieg Bop” covers on my last Ramones post, I ran into these guys: Gus and Fin. They’ve got a YouTube channel called “GUGUG” and apparently, they were at some point the 61st most subscribed UK YouTube musicians of all time. Pretty impressive.
While surfing around YouTube, I found out that they did other Ramones ukelele covers. What really got me hooked was their rendition of “California Sun” (streamed below). The song is performed by two people (you guessed it, Gus and Fin) playing multiple instruments. Gus is on vocals, ukelele, bass, and drums. Fin is on vocals, ukelele, and WOBBLE BOARD. Yes that’s right, WOBBLE BOARD.
“What’s a wobble board,” you ask? Check the video and see for yourself. It’s the most ballin’est instrument I’ve ever seen, and anyone who can play it is awesome in my book.
California Sun:
If you enjoyed that as much as I have, check out the rest of the post for more Ramones covers by Gus and Fin:
