Old Crow Medicine Show is an Appalachian/bluegrass band from New York. Well, sort of - they’re actually based in Tennessee with members from around the east coast and parts of the south. They’ve been playing since the late 90s and have gained notoriety after playing a bunch of music festivals around the world. Gillian Welch and David Rawlings has supported and encouraged them; they also do a cameo for one of their music videos.

Marching Orders is a punk/Oi! band from Australia. They formed around 2002 and went inactive after a few rough patches. They were active again in a couple months with a change in their lineup. They’ve already played shows in the U.S. (East Coast Oi! Fest 2008), Europe, and Japan.

They released a few splits in 2005 and 2006. After another lineup change, they recorded an album in 2007 and EP in 2008.

I’m not quite sure how these guys won this week…oh well.

The Swingin’ Utters are a punk band from California. Well…sort of. They’re influenced by a bunch of old school UK punk and oi bands, but they also play some folk/Americana sounding stuff. Some of their stuff might even be considered poppy sounding. It’s a weird mix. All I know is that they play some Cock Sparrer and Stiff Little Fingers covers, and that makes them OK in my book.

They’re on tour right now and will be visiting areas in the mid-west and north-east. One of the places is the Crazy Donkey, which is the same place a couple of us saw Andrew W. K. Huh…small world.

Surf City is, yes you guessed it, a death metal reggae band from Lithuania. No, wait moron, you guessed wrong. Very wrong. They’re a surf band. From New Zealand. Jeez. Way outta left field there, buddy.

Some of their top tracks on last.fm consist of…”Dickshakers Union”, “Dickshakers Union (version 2)”, and “793 Dickshakers Union.” I’m not even kidding. I’m gonna chalk that one up to last.fm being crappy though.

As far as I’m concerned, they’re not wearing uniforms like Tiki Tiki Bamboooos so therefore are not as awesome. Such a pity. If you’re gonna do a surf band, you might as well go balls out.

Man, someone open up a window and let out some of this innuendo.

The Undead are a race aligned with the Horde in World of Warcraft. Available classes with this race are Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, Warrior, and with the recent expansion, the Death Knight.

Their racial abilities include “Cannibalize”, which regenerates 7% of total health every 2 sec for 10 sec when used on humanoid or undead corpses. You also get “Will of the Forsaken” which breaks any charm, fear, or sleep effects which is pretty ballin’ in PVP. “Underwater Breathing” allows you to stay underwater longer than any other race, which is pretty convenient. Undead also get a minor boost to shadow spells, which is decent.

A Perfect Circle is a “supergroup.” I guess that’s supposed to mean they’re a group of close friends…but super. Kind of like…what’s the name I’m looking for…ah yes, the Planeteers. Anyways, they formed around the late 90s and were active until around 2004. They released 3 albums, a couple of which went platinum.

I remember a few of my friends buzzing about these guys when they first formed, but now they sort of dropped off the face of the planet. What a shame. Anyways, here’s their Official Website, MySpace, and last.fm pages.

Unrest was a rock band from Washington D.C. They’ve got a mix of different styles, but they sound like a typical 90s rock band.

Here’s their last.fm and MySpace pages. No official page though, which would be a feat considering the band disbanded before Al Gore’s Glorious Internet Revolution of ‘98.
