2008: A year in review

Posted on January 5th, 2009
by Eric

2008Well, another year has come to a close; time to look back and reflect on the retarded accomplishments of the most advanced human civilization to ever exist. Sadly, this is the last year we will be able to wear 2-0-0-x eye wear on New Years Eve. Shame, isn’t it?

New Media Election Coverage

Posted on November 4th, 2008
by Michael

On my first screen:  Pajamas TV is broadcasting live election coverage featuring heavyweight bloggers such as Glenn Reynolds, Roger L. Simon, Michelle Malkin, and John Hinderaker among many others.  New media sure has come a long way since 2004!

On my second screen:  The Twitter election feed, full of candidate worship, numbers updates, and the occasional funny joke.  Voices and other staff at the Atlantic are running their own twitter feed on the magazine’s home page.

On the TV, flipping between Fox, CNN, and MSNBC, and these dinosaurs are on mute.

The sign above my webcam reads “party super party.”  Whether you’re tracking the election or not, be sure to vote in the NineCents election!

al-Qaeda casts their vote…for McCain!?

Posted on October 22nd, 2008
by Eric

Headshot!!The Associated Press is reporting that an al-Qaeda linked website (not the Daily Kos) would welcome a pre-election attack to help get Arizona Senator John McCain into the White House. The group claims to want to prolong the wars/occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan to further deteriorate the the US economy. Not suprisingly, John McCain is their guy! Read the full article here.

It isn’t suprising that our enemies want us to continue our interventionist foreign policy; where would radical Islam be without it?

Vote For Me, Bitches!

Posted on August 29th, 2008
by Eric

'sup sluts In a move meant to shore up the broad vote, it was announced today that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will be the GOP’s Vice Presidential Nominee. She’s currently serving her first term as governor, but you may know her as the former mayor of Wasilla.

Personally, I see this VP pick as insulting. Yeah, McCain’s talking a good game about how she’s a “Washington outsider”, but come on. This pick has nothing to do with who would be best suited as VP, and everything to do with snatching votes from Hillary supporters who thought they were going to see a woman president. Are we so easily manipulated, America?

Sadly, the answer is yes. The Republican Party (of which I can currently affiliated, in the interest of full disclosure) is making a calculated gamble. They’ve had their pollsters and statisticians run the numbers, and think this will give them an edge against Obamarama. Quite frankly, I see the move as sleazy and tactless…But before you bitches start nailing me to the cross, let me state for the record I have no problem with a woman running the country. Or a black person. Or a Jewish person. Or a gay person. Or a Muslim person. Or even a fucking quadruple amputee who cheats on his wife with his male nurse.

heil!

I’m outraged because it’s no longer about who is best suited, or who has the best ideas. It’s about who the media throws in your face every day, and how they spin them. It’s about the impulse-issues that in the grand scheme of things don’t make a fucking lick of difference. It’s about false paradigms.
And now, it’s about gender or race or some other superfluous attribute that might help the electoral numbers. Isn’t she cute?

I’m not going to sit here and say I’m not voting for the Republican nominee because he pulled a cheap trick, latching his wagon to a broad. This has really reinforced my view that it’s all a game, it’s all a show. They’ll pander to us on the bullshit that doesn’t matter, and never even whisper to the public about the real issues. I cannot in good conscience lend my support to either major political party.
