LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Actor Corey Haim has died, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office confirmed the actor died at 2:15 AM on Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, Calif.

The Los Angeles Police Department said they received a call from the hospital before 4 AM confirming the actor’s death.

He was transported from the home he shared with his mother, Judy, in Toluca Hills, Calif. to the hospital.

Ed Winter, LA County Coroner’s Office Assistant Chief, told reporters that Haim’s mother had called paramedics when her son collapsed in the early morning hours.

“This morning at about 1:30…Corey Haim’s mom found him. He got up out of bed and had been feeling ill for the last couple of days. As he got out of bed, he felt a little weak and went down to the floor on his knees. He’s had flu-like symptoms. She called paramedics. They responded and transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced [dead] at 2:15 this morning,” Winter said.

Authorities found four prescription drug bottles inside the apartment he shared with his mother, but no illegal drugs, according to Winter.

The Canadian-born actor first rose to fame in 1984’s “Firstborn,” where he starred with Teri Garr, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Robert Downey Jr.

In 1987, the actor the reached the peak of his career in the Joel Schumacher’s “Lost Boys,” where he hunted vampires with his friend and frequent co-star Corey Feldman. Some of his other box office hits included “Lucas,” “License to Drive” and “Dream a Little Dream.”

Following his rise to fame, the actor battled drug and alcohol addiction, a dramatic weight gain, a slew of medical issues and was in and out of rehab numerous times.

In a 2004 interview with Britain’s The Sun, the actor spoke candidly about the history of his drug use.

“I was working on ‘Lost Boy’s when I smoked my first joint,” he told the British tabloid in 2004. “I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack.”

A stint in rehab led to an addiction of prescription meds, including stimulants and sedatives such as Valium, the actor claimed.

“I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck,” he told the newspaper. “But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day.”

In 1997, the actor filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with medical bill debt totalling more than $200,000.

He appeared again with Feldman in 2007 in the A&E reality show, “The Two Coreys,” which was cancelled after two seasons. The same year he told Larry King in an interview on “Larry King Live” that he would be a “chronic relapser for the rest of my life.”

The actor was poised for a comeback in 2008 when he took out a full-page ad in Variety, saying, “This is not a stunt, I’m back. I’m ready to work. I’m ready to make amends.”

In 2009, he appeared with Jason Statham in “Crank: High Voltage.”

Haim was 38.

As a huge fan of “The Lost Boys”, I’m very saddened to hear about this news. It always sucks when someone can’t get their life back on track. I will always remember Corey Haim as the Hero/Villain in “Double Switch”, a Sega CD game that also featured R. Lee Ermey and Deborah Harry.

Early ChatRoulette users traded anecdotes on comment boards with the eerie intensity of shipwreck survivors, both excited and freaked out by what they’d seen. There was a man who wore a deer head and opened every conversation with “What up DOE!?” A guy from Sweden was reportedly speed-drawing strangers’ portraits. Someone with a guitar was improvising songs for anyone who’d give him a topic. One man popped up on people’s screens in the act of fornicating with a head of lettuce. Others dressed like ninjas, tried to persuade women to expose themselves, and played spontaneous transcontinental games of Connect Four. Occasionally, people even made nonvirtual connections: One punk-music blogger met a group of people from Michigan who ended up driving eleven hours to crash at his house for a concert in New York. And then, of course, fairly often, there was this kind of thing: “I saw some hot chicks then all of a sudden there was a man with a glass in his-

From Yahoo! News:

By STEPHANIE REITZ, Associated Press Writer Stephanie Reitz, Associated Press Writer

LITCHFIELD, Conn. – Rip Torn was so intoxicated when he broke into a Connecticut bank carrying a loaded gun that he thought he was home, taking off his hat and boots and leaving them by the door, according to court records.

The 78-year-old actor was wearing the same battered boots Monday when he was arraigned on several charges after spending the weekend in a police holding cell near his hometown of Salisbury, in northwestern Connecticut.

Torn, who did not enter a plea, was released on $100,000 bond a few hours later and waded through a phalanx of media to a friend’s waiting vehicle. He smiled and wished onlookers a nice day but did not answer questions about the arrest.

He is expected to enter an alcohol rehabilitation center in New York as early as Tuesday, according to his attorney.

Torn was given probation last year in a Connecticut drunken driving case and allowed to enter an alcohol education program. He completed the first stage of that program.

He also has two previous drunken driving arrests in New York.

“The history here is clear that there’s an alcohol issue that needs to be addressed,” his attorney, A. Thomas Waterfall, told Bantam Superior Court Judge John W. Pickard on Monday.

The “Men in Black” actor is accused of breaking into the Litchfield Bancorp branch through a window Friday night in Salisbury, where officers responding to an alarm found him wandering in the lobby and nearly incoherent.

According to court records, Torn was disoriented, reeked of alcohol and asked the state police troopers repeatedly why they were taking him out of his home.

“Obviously, he wasn’t there intending to commit a crime, in my estimation,” Waterfall said.

Officers found a loaded .22-caliber revolver in Torn’s pocket, according to court records, and a breath test showed his blood-alcohol content as 0.203 percent — more than twice the 0.08 legal limit for driving in Connecticut.

Torn is charged with criminal trespass, carrying a gun without a permit, carrying a gun while intoxicated, burglary and criminal mischief. His case was transferred to a court in Litchfield that handles more serious cases because of the weapons charges.

He remembers nothing of that night, Waterfall said Monday after the arraignment.

“He’s a very nice person, a very friendly individual. Obviously this is a serious event, so we will deal with it as we go on,” Waterfall said.

Torn never brandished the weapon when the officers confronted him, according to Waterfall and the court records, and has no history of violence. His permit to carry a firearm in Connecticut had expired in October 2007.

The actor, whose real name is Elmore Rual Torn, has appeared on the television show “30 Rock” and won an Emmy in 1996 for his work on “The Larry Sanders Show.” In addition to “Men in Black,” his recent movie credits include “The Insider” and “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.”

Torn is scheduled to return to Litchfield Superior Court on Feb. 17.

Who knew Rip Torn lived in Connecticut?
This story is unfortunate, but it poses some hilarious questions. Was he attending an Intergalactic Kegger prior to entering the bank? Can you still dodge a ball if you’re tanked?

The article went on to say…

Obama felt it was more important for her to go to London than to remain for his speech, Crowley said.

“She asked the president directly, `What do you want me to do?’ And he was very clear: These (London talks) are priorities, so your place is in London working on Yemen and Afghanistan-Pakistan,” Crowley said.

Sure, he did. I’m sorry, but I don’t believe two career politicians are that agreeable about what could only be seen as a massive snub.

I totaled my car recently… and the person I crashed my car into happens to be of the faith I was mocking. What are the odds.

For a normal person the odds are 13.2 million out of 6.5 billion
