To begin, I would like to assert that I am neither Right-wing nor Left-wing.
Sorry right-wingers, but some of those associated with you are stupid.
Portraying Obama as “The Joker” from Batman is a stupid and tasteless attempt by certain republicans to overcompensate for their mediocre run at the presidential campaign.
Boy that sure was a mouthful!
Let’s take a look at some of the awesome things our own American-soil-loving people created for a president the “majority” of us helped vote into office.

Creative, but stupid.
One thing is for sure, something is rustling in the belly of America, and it’s either going to get puked up or diarrhead all over everyone.
For those that enjoy the Obama bashing, there’s a page loaded with political cartoons for you too.
It’s at www.gofyourself.com
Just kidding, here’s the link.
Don’t be a douchebag. Support our president. Support America.
One of the better quotes from the third article listed above:
Well, nothing can be farther from the truth. You know the people who always try to scare people whenever you try to bring them health insurance reform are at it again, and they’re taking sentences and phrases out of context and they’re cobbling them together to leave a very false impression.
This isn’t some sappy healthcare commercial reference when I say this, but there are a lot of DOCTORS who AGREE. I can actually prove this, that studies were done on a variety of doctors, including surgeons and PCPs (That’s “Primary Care Physician” if you’re confused, a-hole.)
Here.
This is Khalid signing off.

Support our president, support America?
Where were you when “stupid people” were asking to impeach Bush?

Impeaching Bush is ok. For Obama, it’s not:

It wasn’t a big deal when Bush was made to look like the joker.

“Don’t be a douchebag. Support our president. Support America.”
Supporting the government is the most unamerican activity one can engage in.
BTW Healthcare is a good, not a right.
From my understanding, the plan isn’t about distributing free healthcare to everyone, it’s about an affordable plan out of one payor. In certain industries, like cellular telephones, I can understand the burden of a monopoly on society, however, I just feel like with medical issues… it should be a little more controlled and less costly. I mean the average American pays nearly double what other industrialized countries pay for healthcare! Over $7,000 per capita! I’m willing to sacrifice some tax money for a plan that actually suits its nation’s needs.
Doesn’t matter IMO, government shouldn’t be in the business at all. The plan will eventually kill all private insurance and stick everyone on the gov’t plan for one simple reason: The government doesn’t have to turn a profit (or break even, for that matter).
If controlling costs is the goal, it should be the other way around. the more people have to pay for their expected healthcare costs themselves, the more cost conscious they will be. we don’t have that now because most people have cost insulating, third party, pre-paid healthcare tied to their employer which for some reason we call “insurance.”
Other countries might pay less because they demand less capital intensive health care or maybe because their government plans place budget restraints on them. In the US you can just get an MRI if you’re complaining about pain in your leg. Then you might go see multiple specialists, even if there’s a high probability it will turn out to be nothing. In most countries they reserve that type of costly testing and consultation for more serious cases.
Obama has indicated that he thinks our government’s budget is very limited. of course my first comment was not to be taken seriously; the government CAN afford it, without taxes, so long there is a substantial amount of unemployed resources.
also, I just learned this the other day:
Monopsony = single customer
Monopoly = single supplier
I think freedom of choice here would best work with the implementation of any idea regarding healthcare.
Give the people options in terms of whether they want to be a part of the government plan ONLY IF they have no other choice, or if the government choice suits their particular needs.
In turn, the government plan can provide them with basic/somewhat sophisticated medical coverage. If someone needs to invest in a better plan, that will be based on a self-assessment of their own health issues, regardless of what factors they use to base their decision. The government’s facilities will need to match a generally agreed upon contemporary view of what a basic standard of healthcare in America would be, ultimately setting out their own set of rules and restrictions.
I understand that you’re just replacing one money pit with another that says “government” on it, but in the end, it could have an appealing overall effect on the population as a whole. This alternative is better than pushing people out of coverage because premiums are too high or pre-existing conditions screw them out of getting ANY COVERAGE AT ALL.
Another benefit would be that you would only need one card for the rest of your life and heck it could be your social security card. This would ultimately save us a lot of HASSLE.
Can we agree that going through private organizations is tedious, costly, confusing, and risky? If you’re not a frequent flyer to the doctor’s office, I wouldn’t expect you to understand this to its fullest.
If we restrict the public to one plan, there lies the potential for things to spiral out of control pretty fast, but in today’s day and age I just don’t see that as being possible or feasible.
I’m thinking about the needy here, not the people who are already set up on their thrones.
That’s all well and good in a nice hypothetical world, but we already know what Obama wants to do…”A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And that’s what I’d like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately.” - Obama on 6/30/03 to the Illinois AFL-CIO
Any government plan will inevitably become the only plan, because unlike private insurance companies, the governmant can (and will) operate at a loss. This is just another encroachment on our liberties, albeit an incremental one. Remember what they said about good intentions?
Freedom of Choice - Is what you got.
Freedom From Choice - Is what you want.
In ancient Rome there was a poem about a dog who found two bones.
He sniffed at one. He licked the other. He went in circles. He dropped dead.
We’re constantly headed back to the hypothetical world argument. We LIVE IN A HYPOTHETICAL WORLD.
The people will pay for what they need in terms of coverage, it’s just a matter of having a government program in place for the needy. I’m not saying this will eliminate the need for privatized insurance companies with their own policies, just that there will be a government plan in place for those who can’t afford something better. If you hit your stride and are in better financial standing, go private! See if I care. In the end, the majority of people will still have to work to get any sort of insurance.
Note: I have little sympathy for big insurance companies.
Am I for 1 payor? No
Am I against 1 payor? No
More details need to surface about the structure of this plan in order for many of us to make a decision, including our “beloved” congressmen who will have some sort of impact on this decision I HOPE.
Well, we’re either witnessing democracy fail including the fall of the capital structure OR we’re witnessing progress and the acceptance of mandatory stability.
Why bear witness?
Living in a hypothetical world
And I am a hypothetical girl
Okay, but more details won’t surface. It’ll pass and go into law. Aside from the lobbiest who wrote the bill, and the congressional pages that read bits and peices inbetween sending sexual text messages to their congressmen, the American people will only understand what they need to understand to maintain their health insurance.
People, I think we’re overlooking the VERY SERIOUS fact here that OUR PRESIDENT Barack Obama, with a little bit of photoshopping, can LOOK LIKE THE JOKER FROM THAT BATMAN MOVIE.
how could we let this happen? WHAT IS WRONG WITH US?
It’s all part of the plan.
I still think it would be way cooler if Emeril Lagasse had Obama on his show and constantly referred to him as “O-BAM!-a”
now thats change I can believe in
